Ticketing and gate scanning
Fair ticketing and gate scanning on the same system as the map.
Ticketing is an add-on, not something buried inside the base plan. Fairs on Community, County & Regional, or State & Enterprise can unlock it, sell tickets on the public event site, and admit guests from the ticket at the gate.
The software unlock is $500 per year. Buyers also pay a $1.25 Midway service fee on each ticket, plus card processing. The ticket’s face value pays out to the fair’s own Stripe account.
01
Selling the ticket
Staff create ticket types — gate admission, a special event, whatever the fair actually sells. Guests buy them on the fair’s public site. Checkout can collect a first name, last name, email, and phone so the order can be looked up later. Guests do not need an account to check out.
- $500 per year to unlock ticketing
- $1.25 per ticket, paid by the buyer, as the Midway service fee
- Card processing of about 2.9% + $0.30, also paid by the buyer
- Face value paid out to the fair through Stripe
- Requires a Community plan or above

02
At the gate
Each ticket carries a QR code. Gate staff open Gate scan in admin, enter the ticket token from that code, and the system admits the guest. The order stays on file with the name and contact collected at checkout, so a guest can look the order up later.
Gate scan today is that check-in step: staff enter or paste the token and record the admission. It is not a separate camera app.

03
What stays with the fair
Midway Metric does not hold the ticket money as the fair’s bank. The face value is paid out to the connected Stripe account. Refunds and order history stay in the fair’s ticketing admin. The map, schedule, and vendor list keep working if you never turn ticketing on.
